CONGRATULATIONS to the undefeated Boise High School Girls Lacrosse Varsity Team on winning the Idaho State Championship for the 3rd straight year!
BHS Girls Lacrosse is one of the original High School Girls Lacrosse teams in the valley. For the past four years, BHS Girls Lacrosse has dominated the Girls Lacrosse scene in Idaho. This season the team was undefeated, and has not experienced a loss since March of 2022.
The team's success this year resulted in an amazing 181 goals scored during regular season, with an additional 32 goals scored during the State Semi-final and State Championship games alone, bringing the total goals scored to 213! Boise's typical game saw 18+ goals on the scoreboard. As with all teams, Boise has some standout offensive players, but more important was the effort the team made to make sure every field player had at least one shot on goal this season! Boise's leading scorers were Adriana Curtis #25 (attack), Delilah White #44 (middie) and Nora Reak #16 (attack). Ava Thompson #37, Charlotte Bennett #15 and Madelyn Kappes #95 were awesome on attack while Claire McSorley #18 and Tillie Babcock #14 were undeniably strong attackers at directing the ball from the crease, and securing several assists.
Boise's defense was just as dominant, allowing only 30 goals scored against them all season, and the total was brought to just 45 goals against by the end of the playoffs. To put that in perspective, the next closest team almost tripled that. If opponents made it past our midfield, Boise's solid defense was always ready and never waited to put the kibosh on any opponent's forward motion. Finola McLain #77, Leah Dingman #6, Paige Chrisman #55, and Prairie Kirk #66 made their opponents work for every inch toward our goal.
Our Freshman Goalie, Ania Ciplinski #43 was the source of many shooter's frustration. Her lightning reflexes have only quickened from the beginning of the season until now, and we look forward to three more years of her putting a wall up in front of our goal.
The game starts with the draw in the middle of the field, and our middies are the only players to have run of the entire field of play. Boise is lucky to have standout middies to promote the play forward, and they are the first line of defense, prohibiting movement toward our goal. All of our middies stepped up to draw this season, but Emma Palmer #23 started most games at the draw, in an effort to direct the ball to one of our other middies. Alex Warfel #54, Caroline Weyhrich #22, and Delilah White #44 were solid on the circle, and getting the draw control. Our middies gained possession, ruled the midfield, and directed the play.
The Boise Girl's Lacrosse Club will certainly miss their three graduating seniors; Prairie, Charlotte and Emma. The team rocked the 2023 season right to the end and is positioned well to challenge for its 4th State Championship next year. Six of our players have been selected to represent Boise in the All Star Game this Thursday evening at Middleton HS. Boise’s 2023 Idaho All Star Players are: Adriana Curtis, Alex Warfel, Ania Ciplinski, Caroline Weyhrich, Delilah White, and Paige Chrisman.
